College Application Essays - What to Avoid
College Application Essays - What to AvoidCollege application essays are a simple way to boost your chances of getting into a prestigious nursing school. While there are many essay examples available, there are also a few essay examples that are not helpful and in some cases actually hurt you. Knowing what to avoid can help you make a successful essay all the more.First, avoid free application essays. As with most things in life, free is not always better. Many schools offer college application essays for free. However, they also offer other types of essay samples. The first type of essay samples available are college application essays that you fill out after visiting a website. These websites usually allow you to fill out as many as five different forms. While you can save time and effort by filling out these forms and uploading them online, they may also contain spelling and grammar errors. The main part of the essay is the summary of the achievements that you have been credited wit h. This is where you get to use up all of your list-making power. The key to writing a great summary is to get right to the point and to make sure you understand the statement you are writing about in enough detail to know what the reader needs to know.Make sure that you're clear and concise in your statements and that they don't seem to be worded so that they sound like they were lifted from a job application. You should also avoid spelling errors and grammatical mistakes. Essay examples should be grammatically correct and it is okay to spellcheck your work.Other essay examples that you will want to avoid include ones that have too many points of view or that are very personal in nature, making use of phrases such as 'I'my' and describing what you eat or drink. Be creative in how you approach the topic and don't try to go into too much detail. If the topic is too complex for you, it is not always helpful to attempt to cover it in the essay.Your essay should not only be about yourse lf. It should be an opportunity to explain why you are interested in nursing and why you feel that you would make a good nurse. It should be something that answers the question of why should you consider a nursing program and that will have the reader wanting to know more. You should also use the essay to tell a story of your passion for nursing and it should be one that people are willing to read over again.Remember that the most important point to remember when writing an essay is to be straight forward and to put all of your thoughts down on paper without any type of fancy wordiness. College application essays will generally include information from college transcripts and your grade point average. Keeping all of this information in mind will help you achieve a great essay.
